So I am able to note down a list of 2021 events with the help of technologies.</p><p style="text-align: left;">It's generally a quiet and boring year for myself, and lucky not to be hit by the virus (touch wood!), job loss, salary cut, and the flood. La-z-boy has always been my dream chair but it just won't work as working equipment, so looked into the range of gaming chair and found that gaming chairs are made of either leather, faux leather or fabric. </div><div><br /></div><div>Avoid fabrics at all cost is one of the rules I set for myself ever since I get to decide what furniture to buy, experience with those kind of bulky headphones is a reminder not to get faux leather, and the last option, and I know genuine leather is either hard to find or will cost me RM20,000+ for an office chair.</div><div><br /></div><div>So I dragged for a month doing more and more research on different brand and range of gaming chairs and ergonomic office chairs, I even watched through the guides on how to choose an office chair as well as the difference between gaming chair and office chair on https://www.youtube.com/user/btodTV.</div><div><br /></div><div>I was so close to made up my mind to settle on a middle-low price mesh high back ergonomic office chair, then I discovered DXRacer AIR Mesh Gaming Chair -- A gaming chair, with mesh material. Of course the price range is within my budget.</div><div><br /></div><div>I searched online for the brand and model to find that they have 2 Malaysian distributors, and they don't sell the color I wants on Shopee or Lazada. I might need to call them up or visit their showroom to find out more.</div><div><br /></div><div>Of course a procrastinator like me will not take action immediately, so I start dragging again. One day, I had a long video conference sitting on my sofa bed and when I stand to walk, I kneeled on the floor as like I received some sort of message from the top (of course it's actually just numb leg due to the bad sitting position for long hour) and I know I must get out and get that chair!</div><div><br /></div><div>So I made a quick call to one of the disti, happened that they have one last unit of white & cyan that I wanted, take a quick break from work to get to the showroom to bring back this beauty in a huge box.</div><div><br /></div><div>The instruction manual is really brief, it's not too complicated to put everything together, but I can't help having a feeling that I might have did something wrong with the installation.</div><div><br /></div><div>Sitting on the chair, it is as comfortable as it is promised, just that my super short work-from-home pants which I also wear to bed exposed part of my thighs to the mesh surface and the touch is not so welcomed. I'll have to start wearing proper pants working from home on this chair.</div><div><br /></div><div>I like to cross my legs on the chair, I believe that's how I broke the last chair. When I cross my legs on this chair and lower the back to sleeping position, I fell with the chair again. No injuries because the back of the chair is really high, and the materials is proven firm because I don't see a scratch to the back of the chair that fell on the floor with my weight on it. </div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, that's improper use of the chair that caused the incident. If I wanted to switch to sleeping position, I need to make sure that I have my feet on the floor to balance the chair. I won't complaint that this is a design flaws, there's no design that can go against physics.</div><div><br /></div><div>In overall, it's a 4/5 star for this chair, everything is great except that I need to wear a longer pants to sit comfortably.</div></div>Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12766964725836616248noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32598341.post-36950274876868654642019-07-21T08:58:00.002+08:002021-11-19T12:47:36.407+08:00What to do if your MAMP mysql Server Won't Start<ol>

<br />
That is probably because your Google Chrome auto-update failed to update automatically. In my case, it happens to the Google Chrome update for Version 57.0.2987 to Version 58.0.3029.96 for Windows and Mac OS on 2017-04-19.<br />
<br />
Here's a tutorial on how to manually trigger the Google Chrome auto-update:<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: 0 none; border: 2px solid #ebebeb; height: 501px; min-width: 100%;"><iframe allowfullscreen="true" height="500px" src="https://www.iorad.com/player/65248/How-to-update-Google-Chrome?src=iframe" style="border: 0 none; min-width: 100%;" width="100%"></iframe></div><div style="display: none;"></div><div style="display: none;">Open Chrome browser and click the vertical 3-dots&nbsp;<span class=""><i><b>settings button.</b></i></span></div><div style="display: none;">At the settings menu, mouseover to <b><i>[Help]</i></b>&nbsp;and Click <span class=""><i><b>[About Google Chrome].</b></i></span></div><div style="display: none;">Your Google Chrome version is shown here. The update will start automatically.</div><div style="display: none;">Last step is to <b><i>relaunch</i> </b>your Google Chrome browser.</div><div style="display: none;">Well done! Your Google Chrome browser is up to date.</div><br />
For iOS and Android version, you may refer to the official <a href="https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?source=gsearch&hl=en">Google Help site</a>.<br />

<br />
There are many principles to follow as guideline when you are writing a message, especially for advertising purposes like maximum 7 words for billboard and more, that made copywriting a profession.<br />
<br />
As a mass communication graduate, I have the habit of analysing marketing messages around myself and sometimes just can't help catching bad examples. One good bad examples is the new Samsung phone ads that appear everywhere, that read "Open Your iPhone".<br />
<br />
Below are more bad examples I've seen in the past, and I will try to collect more in the future to store under this post for reference purposes.<br />
<br />

What did you read at first glance?<br />
<br />
I read 'for FREE (not really)'<br />

<br />
The last Maxis-Spotify promotion I took part back in early 2014 was a RM10-per-month price cut offer. It was bad experience, that it does not come with free mobile data, and will not cut off automatically when the offer ended. Therefore, I had to set a calendar to remind myself from unsubscribing it, and it took me 30 minutes of troubleshoot with the customer service to figure how to unsubscribe the service. End up actually I only need to disconnect from WIFI to do it on the Maxis network.<br />
<br />
And yes, this is what this article all about. In order to trigger the free Spotify Premium subscription or unsubscribe from it, all you need to do is to access the <a href="http://m.maxis.com.my/spotify/" target="_blank">Maxis Spotify Portal</a> on Maxis network. How to do it? Just turn off your phone WIFI and use the mobile data to open that <a href="http://m.maxis.com.my/spotify/" target="_blank">page</a>, then you'll see the subscribe/unsubscribe button.<br />
<br />
The good part of this promotion is that it comes with 15GB of free data dedicated for Spotify music/podcast streaming. While the bad part is, that it seems like, it is STILL WILL NOT going to unsubscribe automatically when the offer ends. Thus you'll find Spotify subscription charges in your monthly phone bill when the offer ends, if they did not renew the offer or come out with new offer.Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12766964725836616248noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32598341.post-73816611947302262572016-06-02T00:06:00.000+08:002016-06-03T01:52:01.706+08:00Blog | The Need of Change in Organisational Culture for Companies to Survive Through the Experience EraIn the past decade, digital natives are struggling to work in a half-transformed digital working environment, due to the difficulties of change management led by, in most organisation, senior managements, who are either digital immigrants, or so-called 'digital dinosaur'.<br />
<br />
But it is not just digitalisation that has happened over the past decade, the world has entered the post-digitalisation era, which somewhat referred as 'Experience Era', which the workforce gradually popularised by digital wisdoms, as defined by Marc Prensky in his <a href="http://marcprensky.com/writing/Prensky-Intro_to_From_DN_to_DW.pdf" target="_blank">work</a>.<br />
<br />
For most established companies that are struggling to survive the transformation of post-digitalisation, the organisation culture has to be redesigned through a human-centred approach to achieve experiential excellence at every level from workgroup to the company as a whole.<br />
<br />
Besides, the change management for the organisation cultural realignment has to be from top-down, and to aim for breakthrough innovations. Specifically, the senior management team has to be lean and agile, and the middle management has to be empowered by top management to take more risks, for corresponding reward as well as consequences, for them to feel responsible, to take ownership, and to be proud of their own work.<br />
<br />
This is not going to be easy, making change happen will never be easy. But change is necessary, to make this world a better place, to keep the fishes in the net, to stop the bleeding caused by the slow response to a fast-changing world.<br />
<br />
As for the operation levels, most of the employees are either new recruits or inexperienced, they are responsive to change of organisational culture when change happens at their superior level. So they're cool, no worries.Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12766964725836616248noreply@blogger.com0Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia3.073281 101.5184612.8195925 101.1957375 3.3269695 101.8411845tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32598341.post-57418024513444887932016-02-01T20:00:00.000+08:002016-05-29T16:11:45.636+08:00How-to | Update Apps on Your iPhone Through iTunesSo I got a new laptop and wanted to utilize the office internet to update my apps. But too bad the company network team's WIFI policy doesn't allow us lower rank staff to update Windows, Android nor Apple Apps and OS, we only allows to update our stuff with the LAN connection.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I plugged in my iPhone to the laptop, open iTunes and sync the phone. Sync finished, but the Apps in my phone remain unchanged. Inside the "Apps" page of my phone settings, I can see my Apps appears on the Home screen but not in the left-hand side list.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Searched on Google and found <a href="https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2728471?tstart=0" target="_blank">this</a> but not particularly helpful. Can't complaint much as the last post was in 2013. But simply sync the iPhone to iTunes just won't update the Apps.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I tried to click around and found my apps in the iTunes App Store "Purchased" page.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Apparently you'll need to download back the Apps into your computer using the iTunes App Store before you can update them back to your iPhone.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's how you do it:</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-acUhp1Hg2DI/Vq8LwKgQJYI/AAAAAAAA7bo/gHemaBHObr8/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.38.47%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="187" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-acUhp1Hg2DI/Vq8LwKgQJYI/AAAAAAAA7bo/gHemaBHObr8/s400/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.38.47%2BPM.png" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">1. Open iTunes App Store using the 'A' button on top-right and then click "App Store" on the top navbar, then click "Purchased" in the "QUICK LINKS".</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SWGa_1HK5jg/Vq8MV4X33QI/AAAAAAAA7bw/hrpn9f2IoP4/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.41.54%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="166" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SWGa_1HK5jg/Vq8MV4X33QI/AAAAAAAA7bw/hrpn9f2IoP4/s400/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.41.54%2BPM.png" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">2. Wait for it to load, and you'll see the list of Apps you purchased since you got your first iPhone. This might not be the most effective way to do it, but is the way I figured out myself: Click the download button on top-right of each App you need to put back to your iPhone (yeah, and then iTunes will start to download them to your PC).</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CjkDfyUAa7Y/Vq8NJMwZFxI/AAAAAAAA7b8/P7I1MGaK-00/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.45.01%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="55" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CjkDfyUAa7Y/Vq8NJMwZFxI/AAAAAAAA7b8/P7I1MGaK-00/s320/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.45.01%2BPM.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">3. Click the iPhone Icon (with your phone connected to PC) to open the iPhone summary, then click "Apps" under Settings to see the list of Apps.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LbsBLp1DMyo/Vq8NfjeSIII/AAAAAAAA7cE/FEyn64IqcOI/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.45.17%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LbsBLp1DMyo/Vq8NfjeSIII/AAAAAAAA7cE/FEyn64IqcOI/s400/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-01%2Bat%2B3.45.17%2BPM.png" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">4. And now you are able to see your Apps on the left with the "Update" button. Apps you haven't installed into your phone will have the Install button instead, for those with no updates, it will be the Remove button.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
I hope it helps. Do feel free to share if you know how to do it without manually go through the list of Apps you purchased all these years and hand-pick them back into your phone.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Have a nice day.</div>

A friend called and ask about how to feature a photo on her Facebook photo album (she uploaded a set of photo) to make it more visible while shared. So I quickly took some photo on my screen to give her the step-by-step.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today I was cleaning up my photo in the phone and, instead of just throw them into the trash bin, I though might as well post it up just in case anyone else needed it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here's how you feature a photo inside your Facebook Album.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RbaWC0bIEOw/Vp7kAbLt-eI/AAAAAAAAzEk/vL_RT6L-Lr0/s1600/IMG_8508.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RbaWC0bIEOw/Vp7kAbLt-eI/AAAAAAAAzEk/vL_RT6L-Lr0/s400/IMG_8508.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 1: To get started, you'll need to create an album for the photo, featuring it from your Mobile Upload album doesn't make much sense.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OmV4ISUViHs/Vp7kAd48E3I/AAAAAAAAzEg/R3ud_DxTJPc/s1600/IMG_8509.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OmV4ISUViHs/Vp7kAd48E3I/AAAAAAAAzEg/R3ud_DxTJPc/s400/IMG_8509.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 2: Move the photo in your set of photo into the album by using the Options menu on the bottom-right corner of your photo.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yH_5IECUqvg/Vp7kAI7kTOI/AAAAAAAAzEc/gi0YB6eBVzo/s1600/IMG_8510.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yH_5IECUqvg/Vp7kAI7kTOI/AAAAAAAAzEc/gi0YB6eBVzo/s400/IMG_8510.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 3: Now open the album. There's plenty of ways to do it, the simple one is to click on the album name at the bottom-left corner of your photo.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U6JW5QJFoGg/Vp7kCGA-kJI/AAAAAAAAzE0/QrL6WpBxMns/s1600/IMG_8511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U6JW5QJFoGg/Vp7kCGA-kJI/AAAAAAAAzE0/QrL6WpBxMns/s400/IMG_8511.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Extra: You can drag-and-drop to move your photo sequence, if you need to.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TIcO9ihw62s/Vp7kCJYiF1I/AAAAAAAAzE4/u47BepZxyV0/s1600/IMG_8512.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TIcO9ihw62s/Vp7kCJYiF1I/AAAAAAAAzE4/u47BepZxyV0/s400/IMG_8512.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 4: To feature a photo within your album, mouse-over to the top-right corner of your photo thumbnail and make it your Cover Photo.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
That's it. The guide above might not be very detailed. If you need me, do leave a comment below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is very true that, in life, we always focus much on pursuing happiness but ignore the fact about sadness always have to coexist with happiness, like a reflection, like the yin-yang coexistence if you understand what I am talking about, if you don't, never mind.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I especially like the part where the emotions are trying too hard to be happy, and ended up become nothing but a mess. That's very true in life, isn't it? Almost every time, every time we do something and expect it to end happily ever after, things always got turned the other way round and we ended up having to pretend to be still happy about it, even though we're actually not.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To me, the moral from the movie, is that if you have the courage to pursue happiness, you should also be brave enough to let yourself fall into the deep well of sadness. The key is, do not let yourself fall too deep that you know you won't be able to climb back up. Just tell yourself, enough is enough, when the time has come, stand up and walk away.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, don't be afraid about being sad. Feel the pain, cry out loud, but do believe in joy, when the sad feeling is over, joy will fill up the void, and all these complete us as human.<br />
<br />
Have a nice day.</div>

<br />
I came across the concept of Design Thinking during a team building session with <a href="https://designthinking.com.my/about/people/khairul-anwar/">Khairul Anwar</a>. It was a 3-day introductory programme that Khairul bring us through the overall journey of how companies like Google and banks design their product using this customer-centric process, and of course we went through a really simplified version of DT journey to get some taste of Design Thinking.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Design Thinking Crash Course by Khairul Anwar, DT Leadership.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The crash course started with requesting each of us to send in a T-Profile for the coach to know a little bit about us, that really differentiate itself with normally how we did a pre-training survey using online forms, it makes me feel personal, and the coach care about who I am.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-APLYDyrI9TM/W8ravenyTlI/AAAAAAACKt0/ujdQT_bElgcBRiAoij_Fn1ORmCNOH5OcACLcBGAs/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2018-10-20%2Bat%2B3.35.05%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1564" data-original-width="1238" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-APLYDyrI9TM/W8ravenyTlI/AAAAAAACKt0/ujdQT_bElgcBRiAoij_Fn1ORmCNOH5OcACLcBGAs/s320/Screen%2BShot%2B2018-10-20%2Bat%2B3.35.05%2BPM.png" width="253" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">T-Profile</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Then we went through the whole design thinking process practice in light speed including the spaghetti challenge, the prototype challenge, and then the all five stages of design thinking.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LikfFjs6zeI/W8rc3QmK1UI/AAAAAAACKuA/yhrHJpwypIAkBXDQILaJAGEKZNB2UDQ4QCLcBGAs/s1600/Design-thinking-process.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="746" data-original-width="1496" height="159" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LikfFjs6zeI/W8rc3QmK1UI/AAAAAAACKuA/yhrHJpwypIAkBXDQILaJAGEKZNB2UDQ4QCLcBGAs/s320/Design-thinking-process.jpeg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Design Thinking Process</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
It was really innovative, but I have a strong feeling that I need to experience the full version myself, and it is something worth exploring. So I googled Design Thinking, and came across a <a href="http://www.thesundaily.my/news/2017/08/01/genovasi-malaysia-training-more-improve-efficiency-najib" target="_blank">Design Thinking Ambassador programme</a> by <a href="http://www.genovasidschool.com/" target="_blank">Genovasi Malaysia</a>. A new chapter of work life opened up from the second I hit the form 'submit' button.<br />
<br />
I got offered to attend the 10-day Design Thinking programme over 5 weekends.<br />
<br />
I've met many young minds at the training centre in Petaling Jaya and learned how it's done using the way of design thinking, learn by doing, fail early, and fail often.<br />

I really do work differently with the ability to empathise the people I serve, or work with, and provide visual prototype to help communicate with them. Beside design thinking process, the programme actually makes me understand how important it is to accept failure and keep trying, after the many times of iterating the prototype and get out there to let tester try it. One key thing I realise from the testing attempts, is that most tester will tend to be nice and not tell you what they really think, the ability empathy with the user really help pin-pointing the real customer pain.Joehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12766964725836616248noreply@blogger.com0Jalan SS 16/1, Ss 16, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia3.0819468 101.58276330000001-27.7856302 60.274169300000011 33.9495238 142.8913573tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32598341.post-73574515802565056052015-10-09T23:00:00.000+08:002017-05-06T10:17:11.332+08:00Something to Brag About<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FxpB272DHWU/Vhcw6N7a59I/AAAAAAAAyNw/oh1hVMfb-3s/s1600/seminar3i_presenters2_ngjoohui.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FxpB272DHWU/Vhcw6N7a59I/AAAAAAAAyNw/oh1hVMfb-3s/s640/seminar3i_presenters2_ngjoohui.jpg" width="100%" /></a></div>Happy to have met groups of teachers that are open to explore new technology in school work. As stated on the title of this post, the talk is about self-discovery and personal development, writing is just one of the tools for it. Several writing techniques have been shared by the speakers during the session including:<br />
<ol>
<li>Making a list</li>
<li>Catharsis/Free writing</li>
<li>Reflection/Self-observation</li>
<li>Self Affirmation</li>
<li>Sketchnote</li>
</ol>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
Making a List</h4>
<div>
Making a list calms us down in the cluttered stuffs waiting to be done wandering inside our brain. The process is pretty simple: Sit down, grab whatever undone stuff out of your mind, and put them into a list. This will effectively ease workload for your brain and free you from the stress of you might miss some of the item undone. In addition, splitting the master list into more specific steps makes you be more assured by the list you made, and make you believe in the list more. Ah yes, make it a good habit to list something down immediately before you forget.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Example:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Team meeting in the morning</li>
<ul>
<li>Check meeting agenda</li>
<li>Compile notes into the week's todo list</li>
</ul>
<li>Examine hardware, label, and compile a list</li>
<ul>
<li>Labeling</li>
<li>Installation</li>
<li>Testing</li>
<li>Compile hardware list</li>
<li>Email report</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<h4>
Catharsis/Free Writing</h4>
<div>
This is like any simple one-liner Facebook status we always put on our status update. It doesn't need to mean anything, but Facebook is not the place for it. We all find that out the day some nasty or sarcastic comment were left below your status. So it is highly recommended to do the catharsis or free writing somewhere isn't public.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Example:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>I want to drink a cup of coffee now.</li>
<li>I missed my dog.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<h4>
Reflection/Self-observation</h4>
<div>
Write down something just happened to you that makes you couldn't stop thinking about. Start from a single line, then rewrite the story, over and over again, until the story sounds right and feels right.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Example:</div>
<div>
Version 1: My friend had a bad day.</div>
<div>
Version 2: My friend had a bad day, I felt sorry about it.</div>
<div>
Version 3: My friend had a bad day. When she told me about it, I can't really help. I felt sorry about it.</div>
<div>
Version 4: My friend had a bad day. When she told me about it, I can't really help. I felt sorry about it. I've made myself a good listener.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
Self Affirmation</h4>
<div>
This one is more like the inspirational quotes, but you will write your own. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Example:</div>
<div>
I think I'm gonna start writing again.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
Sketchnote</h4>
<div>
Just draw whatever you feels like on a piece of paper and post it on the wall. To be honest, sketchnote doesn't work for myself. </div>
<div>
